My first hike while “living” at Chatfeild Resevoir. We were there for 8 days. I had one of those eight days off from work, this was it.This was before the hike, because the short one started to show us he was getting old that day. He started limping after about 1/2 mile. The Tall one got too hot. If I remember correctly, this was the first day we tried our propane stove. Because we were too chicken to even turn it on. Heck, we weren’t sure the guage of the propane tank worked. This was Sept 13, 2013. One year minus 2 days ago. The weather is much different this year. Colder. 2013 saw temps into the mid 80’s until November for us.
We drove the 1977 Holiday Rambler to see Yonder Mountain String band at Red Rocks. We drove it through Evergreen, Kitteredge, Idledale and then Morrison. I don’t remember any of this show because I was so worried about it. The worst part about that is that as soon as the show was over we drove straight back. We didn’t have any time to enjoy having an RV at a concert. After this escapade in Evergreen, the journey home gave us our first taste of how this was going to go. It died going up a hill. No one knows why to this day.
Thats me, and my dogs Ami (my friend in French) the poodle, and Solly the Corgi mix. The camper is a 1977 Holiday Rambler. It was the 2nd one I looked at, and I jumped at it mostly to shut my husband up. That was a mistake. It was mechanically unsound, the plumbing didn’t work, the furnace did not work. However, it didn’t leak (badly) and it’s electrical worked OK. We found all this out on the road. next time, I will tell the husband to shut up and hire a mechanic to look it over.
One year ago - August 31st 2013 - I became homeless. No - let me rephrase that. I became “houseless”. I retired not from my job (which I love) but from the sociatal wretch of paying bills and living the way society would have you beleive is the proper way. I’m going to attempt to put up the past year, catching up to today.
